LSCC Contributes 2864 Meals to Second Harvest

Leadership Santa Cruz County class members and directors collected funds for Second Harvest Food Bank to support the delivery of 2864 meals to seniors and families in need in Santa Cruz County. Founded in 1972, Second Harvest was the first food bank in California and is the second oldest in the nation. They began by distributing food from a parking lot in Santa Cruz to groups operating the Breakfast For Kids program.

 

Second Harvest’s mission is to end hunger and malnutrition by educating and involving the community. Through their network of more than 200 agencies and programs and over 3,000 volunteers, the organization distributes over 8 million pounds of food annually to working poor families, children, and seniors.
