Agriculture Day

Class 31 started their Agriculture Day out at the Santa Cruz County Fairgrounds. They met both the new Agriculture Commissioner, Juan Hidalgo and the recently retired Ag Commissioner Mary Lou Nicoletti. They learned about the extent and diversity of agriculture in the county and its significant economic value. They were also introduced to Focus Agri-Culture. Most of the remainder of the day was spent visiting various agricultural sites. They were able to tour California Pajarosa, Live Earth Farm, and Driscoll's Rancho Corralitas. Perhaps the highlight was a visit to Gizdich Ranch for lunch and, of course, some pie a la mode. While enjoying this Nita Gizdich talked about her family story on the ranch. The day ended with a tour of the museum and grounds associated with the Agricultural History Project at the fairgrounds. #LeadershipSCC
