Arts Day

Santa Cruz County is enriched by the diverse arts community it supports. This message came through loud and clear on Class 33’s Arts Day. The morning began at the MAH with presentations on the value that the arts bring to our community. The class had a chance to hear from Michelle Williams, Executive Director of the Arts Council; Nina Simon, Executive Director of the MAH, and panelists representing various components of the arts community. A walk over to the Civic Auditorium gave the class a chance to learn about the Civic Restoration Project as well as a starting point for a scavenger hunt of public art in downtown Santa Cruz. Then on to the Kuumbwa Center where the class heard what it is like to be an artist as well as enjoy a performance by the Shakti Bhakti dancers. The day ended at the Tannery Arts Center where they heard from the Mayor of Santa Cruz, David Terrazas, and took a tour of the center with Ann Hazels.

We'd like to thank our many sponsors for today:

Note: Since

Sarah has left New Leaf we are beginning a new relationship with the marketing folks over there. They were very help helpful and accommodating. They offered a 20% discount on the lunch which helped defray this cost. So I’d like to make sure they receive a “shout out” on our social media to encourage this partnership in the future. Here is the contact info on the person I worked with on this:
