"Why do farmers farm, given their economic adversities on top of the many frustrations and difficulties normal to farming? And always the answer is: 'Love. They must do it for love."
--- Wendell Berry
Leadership Santa Cruz County's Class 38 toured the fertile Pajaro Valley in April. We studied the past, present and future of farming, including the impacts of the changing climate, water, workforce, and technology. Together we walked, talked and ate the fruits (literally) of labors of love.
Thank you to the Agricultural History Project, Agri-Culture, UC Agriculture Extension, the SCC Agriculture Commissioner, Driscoll's, Fog City Farms, Esperanza Farms, Gizdich Ranch, Live Earth Farms, and the Pajaro Valley and Capitola-Soquel Chambers of Commerce.
